In today's digital age, the fourth industrial revolution has given rise to Industry 4.0. This new paradigm has brought new challenges for organizations, through a digital transformation. This digital transformation has profoundly impacted the way businesses operate, leading to a fundamental shift in the Business Process Management (BPM), affecting business models, processes, products, relationships and competencies. This transformation is based on the use of cyber-physical systems and information and communication technologies, in particular artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things.
This paper aims to identify and define the main challenges, limitations, and opportunities of BPM in the era of Industry 4.0. Furthermore, it aims to identify potential future research directions. in addition to analyzing the impact of Industry 4.0 concepts and related technologies on the management of organizations and their business processes.
