- ItemA flexible distance for the spatial placement in a multimedia document(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers ( IEEE ), 2008-04-07) Maredj, Azze-Eddine; Tonkin, Nourredine; Sadallah, Madjid; Alimazighi, ZaiaIn the multimedia documents authoring systems the management of spatial and temporal inter-objects relations is the most delicate task. Spatial relations management refers to the appropriate means to express relations between the document objects and guarantee their consistency. Usually it is represented by spatial model which performances depend on its expressivity degree, on its positioning precision and on the ability to express a desired overlap. One of the most important factor that affects performnaces is the distance associated to the relations. To enhance the expressivity and precision degrees and to allow the specification of desired overlap, we introduce, in this paper, the flexible distance concept.

- ItemCSP-based adaptation of multimedia document composition(Mohan S. Kankanhalli, Tao Li, Wei Wang, 2015-02) Maredj, Azze-Eddine; Tonkin, NourredineWe propose an approach for the dynamic adaptation of multimedia documents modeled by an over-constrained constraint satisfaction problem (OCSP). In addition the solutions that it provides for the problem of determining the relations that do not comply with the user profile and the problem of the combinatorial explosion when searching for alternative relations, it insures a certain quality of service to the presentation of the adapted document: (i) If the required constraints are not satisfied, no document is generated, unlike other approaches that generates even if the presentation of the adapted document is completely different from the initial one, (ii) The definition of the constraints hierarchy (strong constraints and medium constraints) maintains as much as possible of the initial document relations in the adapted one. As result, the adapted presentations are consistent and close to those of the initial ones.

- ItemExtending the Conceptual Neighborhood Graph of the Relations for the Semantic Adaptation of Multimedia Documents(WASET, 2012-06) Maredj, Azze-Eddine; Tonkin, NourredineThe recent developments in computing and communication technology permit to users to access multimedia documents with variety of devices (PCs, PDAs, mobile phones…) having heterogeneous capabilities. This diversification of supports has trained the need to adapt multimedia documents according to their execution contexts. A semantic framework for multimedia document adaptation based on the conceptual neighborhood graphs was proposed. In this framework, adapting consists on finding another specification that satisfies the target constraints and which is as close as possible from the initial document. In this paper, we propose a new way of building the conceptual neighborhood graphs to best preserve the proximity between the adapted and the original documents and to deal with more elaborated relations models by integrating the relations relaxation graphs that permit to handle the delays and the distances defined within the relations

- ItemMediaStudio : Un système d’édition et de présentation de documents multimédia interactifs(CERIST, 2010) Maredj, Azze-Eddine; Sadallah, Madjid; Tonkin, NourredineIn the actual standards and multimedia systems, the documents are often written in an event based approach which makes the programming techniques not adapted to the incremental edition process. The documents maintenance has become very hard and very expensive and the construction of such documents is not adapted to the non-computer scientist users. Moreover, works done in this field have mainly focused on the temporal dimension while the development of such systems should consider all the multimedia document dimensions (temporal, spatial, structural and hypermedia) to mutualize their conception and implementation. Furthermore, the documents adaptation to particular users reading profiles is not considered whereas for some application fields, like learning, this remains an important need. On the basis of those observations, MediaStudio will try to be a contribution to the field of editing and presenting interactive multimedia documents through a set of propositions to compensate the mentioned insufficiencies.
--------------- The temporal dimension of an interactive multimedia document confers to its objects behaviors different from those of a traditional document. New needs for reading must be considered to control its complexity of perception. The user interactions are a solution to these needs. However, in the current multimedia systems, the interactions are based only on the document objects and the reader is reduced to a passive role. In this paper, we propose a logical model for multimedia documents where the objects are no longer seen as inseparable entities but can be grouped into scenes defining paths of reading as needed. In addition, the reader can define its own paths of reading. A set of interaction mechanisms is proposed.
- ItemSemantic Adaptation of Multimedia Documents(Zarqa University, 2013-11) Maredj, Azze-Eddine; Tonkin, NourredineA multimedia document should be presented on different platforms, for this adaptation of its content is necessary. In this contribution, we make some proposals to improve and extend the semantic approach based on conceptual neighborhoods graphs in order to best preserve the proximity between the adapted and the original documents and to deal with models that define delays and distances.
- ItemSemantic Approach for the Spatial Adaptation of Multimedia Documents(Academy Publisher, 2012-05) Maredj, Azze-Eddine; Tonkin, NourredineWith the proliferation of heterogeneous devices (desktop computers, personal digital assistants, phones), multimedia documents must be played under various constraints (small screens, low bandwidth, etc). Taking these constraints into account with current document models is impossible. Hence, generic source documents must be adapted or transformed into documents compatibles with the target contexts. The adaptation consists of modifying this specification of the document in a minimal way to lead it to satisfy the target profile. The profile defines constraints that must be satisfied by the document to be played. At this level, the transgressive adaptation becomes necessary when no specification model exists to satisfy this profile. We focus on the spatial dimension of a multimedia document and we provide an approach for the spatial adaptation that permits to best preserve the initial document semantic. In the proposed transgressive adaptation, the relations that do not comply with the target profile are not most often replaced by the closest ones due to the fact that their immediate neighboring relations have the same similarity degree whereas there may exist differences between them. In this paper, we extend this approach to, firstly, best preserve the proximity between the adapted and the original documents by weighting the arcs of the conceptual neighborhood graphs and secondly, to deal with complex relations models by integrating the concept of the relations relaxation graphs that permit to handle the distances defined within the relations.

- ItemWeighting of conceptual neighborhood graph for multimedia documents temporal adaptation(CERIST, 2010-09) Maredj, Azze-Eddine; Tonkin, NourredineIn the approaches of the semantic adaptation of a multimedia document, where this last is represented by an abstract structure of a relations graph that expresses all the relations that exist between its contained media objects, the adaptation consists in modifying this abstract structure in a minimal way to lead it to satisfy the target profile. The profile defines constraints that must be satisfied by the document to be played. At this level, the transgressive adaptation becomes necessary when no specification model exists to satisfy this profile. In this paper, we propose a conceptual neighborhood graph based approach where the weighting of this graph is also proposed for from one side, reduce substantially the adaptation time and from the other side, find the closest substitution relations to those to be replaced.
